For 36 years, Tony Touma has built a reputation as one of the most accomplished manual physical therapists in the Washington, D.C. region. As a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists — an advanced distinction earned by relatively few clinicians — Tony brings a depth of hands-on diagnostic and treatment skill that defines the practice.

Much of that expertise was forged at the elite level of professional sport. Over 15 years with the Washington Wizards, Tony served as a spine specialist and injury consultant, working alongside team physicians to evaluate, treat, and return professional athletes to competition.

The practice is grounded in the manual and medical-exercise therapy philosophy of Norwegian pioneer Oddvar Holten. Having trained directly under master clinician Bjørn Svendsen, Tony infuses that same rigor into his patient care today. As Lead Instructor at the Great Lakes Institute of Manual Medicine and founder of CORE Physical Therapy, he has spent over 20 years training the next generation of therapists and building a highly respected practice.

His philosophy is straightforward: skilled hands first. Manual therapy forms the foundation—restoring mobility, relieving pain, and identifying the root cause of dysfunction. Care then progresses to functional rehabilitative exercise, ensuring a seamless transition back to peak fitness.
